OK so first let me confess. I’m a bread girl. I love it, I would eat it at every meal if I could. So when I ran out of bread during my “No Spend” month (September) I was a little concerned. After all, it was early September and I had several weeks to go before I could go to the store and buy a loaf of bread. So I decided to pull out my bread maker, and make my own. 

I tried several recipes before I landed on this one from Sugar Dish Me. It was super easy (especially because I was using my bread maker) and I had all the ingredients on hand. It was soo good that I ate the whole loaf that night. Seriously, yum. So the next day I put all the ingredients into the bread maker and made another loaf. Only this time I added more herbs. And once again it was delicious.

At that point I knew I wanted to share it with you. So I put on another loaf, photographed the entire process, and ate the loaf as soon as I took it out of the oven. Oops, missed that photo. This happened several times before I finally got the picture of the finished product. 

I made this loaf several different ways, and was happy every time with the end results. With just the Rosemary, with Rosemary, Thyme, Marjoram, Oregano, Cilantro, and Basil, any combination of the spices, and without any spices at all. I’ve even done it with half whole wheat and half white flour. Best part, I would happily make any of the combinations again. 

The whole wheat loaf was slightly heavier than the other loaves, but still very good, and the best part, I can’t eat the whole loaf in one night. It really fills me up faster.

  1. 1 1/4 cups Water
  2. 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  3. 3 cups All Purpose Flour
  4. 3/4 tsp Salt
  5. 1 tbsp Packed Brown Sugar
  6. 1 tbsp Active Dry Yeast
  7. 1/4 tsp of each Herb you want
  8. Pam Spray
  1. Place ingredients in bread maker, in the order listed. Set the bread maker to dough.
  2. Spray a large bowl with non stick cooking spray and drop dough into bowl. Let rise for another hour.
  3. Preheat oven to 400 F and spray cookie sheet with non stick cooking spray.
  4. Knead dough 2 to 3 times and form an oval.
  5. Place in oven and bake for 26 minutes.
